Halloween costume reviews would not be complete without bats, and Batman is the ultimate Bat Person, after
Dracula, naturally. Even old fang tooth would find his chilly hands full tangling with a superhero Halloween Batman

Prices for the Halloween Costumes Batman regalia range from $800 for the official Batman
uniform down to less than a dollar for the official Batman drink cup to toast the evening with a draught of pumpkin
juice bloody mary. The most common prices for a really good looking Batman getup run in the $50 range

As a lad of twelve or so I discovered comic books at the barber shop. I used to spend
afternoons there reading those mags. Looking back, I doubt the owner thought much of my ways, laid up in a chair,
reading his constantly updated stash of comics...for free, but he was kind enough not to run me off.
Later, I managed to collect quite a horde of first editions, being smart enough, even at that
tender young age, to realize their eventual worth...which I have not realized to this date, not wanting to part
with them. That epoch was known as "The Second Golden Age of Comics," and it surely was that.
I started with DC Comics which among other things produced Superman...and Batman. I quickly
progressed to Marvel Comics, the home of Spiderman, etc., as they were more "grown up" comics, and I was certainly
a very grown up little comic reader.
My fascination with comics lasted only a couple of years. I soon discovered books. Even so, I
still have stacks of great old comics.
I asked my mother to bundle them up for me, and she cheerfully did. One afternoon I came home
from school, and there they were, all neatly stacked and securely taped up with masking tape. I nearly
birthed a duck, and that is not an easy thing for a 14 year old to do. I removed the tape as well as I could,
saving most of the comics, undamaged.
 Batman was never a favorite of mine, I suppose, because it wasn't a Marvel production.
The Batman television show didn't do much to impress me either. Ah, but that was a MAGIC time for SciFi on
television. Color was just coming online and there was always one house in the neighborhood where you could
see Batman In Color. Those rich reds, blues, and yellows were seared into my memory. A pleasant
memory.
It wasn't until much much later, with the coming of the Batman movies, that my appreciation of
The Bat was rekindled.
In between, while I had moved on to SciFi novels, many of the people in my age group stuck with
the comics...sort of time warped permanently in the comic fandom world. I always marveled at them, as one would any
strange form of life. Comic book people take their comics VERY seriously indeed. Some even take to wearing Batman
costumes.
Unfortunately, only one serious comic book type ever made a million bucks, or much of a living,
for that matter, out of their passion, and that was none other than Smiling Stan Lee. As for the Gods of DC Comics,
I really don't know, nor care much about them. They sort of spoke down to kids, and I never respected them for
that.
Time passes. Along comes the Science Fiction Conventions and the Comic Book Conventions.
Halloween Batman costumes make major gains as fans want to dress up as their favorite comic book hero. It begins to
look like Batman costumes aren't just for Halloween any more. But we're talking hard core Batman fans here.
For the rest of humanity, the prime time of Halloween Batman costumes is every October 31st,
come All Hallows Eve. Even Batman himself dresses up as Batman for Halloween, prowling the seamy underbelly of
Gotham in search of sweet candy treats. No villain in his right mind ever denies the Bat his treats, for his tricks
are terrible to behold!
