In this issue of Halloween Costumes 2011 Insider News I want to talk a bit about the genesis of our now WORLD FAMOUS HALLOWEEN HOME VIDEO, played on the best computers around the world and in your town.

Since this is Halloween Insider news, I'll let you in on the other side of the Halloween Costumes video.

It's fairly obvious that I had a lot of fun putting the thing together. The objective of the video was to basically cover all of my bases in leaving no stone unturned to introduce folks to HalloweenHome.net.

The first thing I did was to hire the voice of Diggety, our Halloween Home mascot. I found him online, and after hearing him, decided he was the right man for the job.

The second thing I did was to write the script and send it to him.

The third thing I did was to start looking for interesting photo material to make the video visually interesting. The bulk of the photos came from our lead vendor, BuyCostumes.

And lastly, I crafted the audio portion. In truth, the haunting thrumming sound you hear throughout was something that literally drove me to do the video. When I first heard that sound effect more years ago than I care to admit I said to myself, " I HAVE to do something with this!" This was long before HalloweenHome.net existed. Thank goodness I still had it stashed for future use.

After I had all the elements for the video at hand, I determined that I didn't have enough Diggety to fill the time so I scratched my head a little and came up with the solution. That's when I enlisted YOUR BRAIN to talk in the middle of the Halloween Costumes video.

After the project was complete, I showed it to Vicky, my wife, and asked...."So, what you think??"

Vicky literally flew into gales of laughter. When she caught her breath, she asked, "Who is that idiot on there?"

"What you mean," says I. "You mean Diggety? That's the guy I hired."

"No," she said still laughing horrendously... " The OTHER idiot!!"

"Wull," says I, somewhat offended.... "It's ME!!!"

This sent her into another fit of awful giggles.

You see what I have to put up with around here? Being creative is hard enough without giggling critics.

Diggety O'Day, by the way, is a takeoff on the most beloved undertaker of ALL time, and that is none other than Digger O'Dell who made a weekly appearance on the radio show, and later the television show called The Life of Riley. To comprehend how popular Digger was, you would have to be of a certain advanced age, or be a fan of old time radio and vintage television.

Diggety O'Day himself is a real life ghost. When he was alive the steam engine was a new idea and there was no paper money. Everyone used PayPal.

Diggety is a fine ghost, and loves the chance to walk among the living once again to proclaim to all the world that Halloween Costumes on HalloweenHome.net is just about the coolest thing around. We're darn proud to have him aboard!

In summation, I must confess that I had NO idea how much time I would be spending on my HalloweenHome.net project when I began. I can't stop adding things to it and having all the fun seeing it rise on the search engines. The reason is that I LOVE Halloween stuff. It's like a submerged language skill I didn't know I had. Once opened to the air, it just sort of bloomed like a tasty mushroom. Making Halloween Costumes pages is FUN!
